Random UUID Generator

Generate random version 4 UUIDs, the standard 128-bit identifiers used in databases, APIs and test data. Each one is created in your browser from a secure random source.

How to use it

Choose how many identifiers you need and press Generate. Copy the list into your code, test fixture or spreadsheet.

Example

A generated UUID looks like 3f2b9c1e-8a4d-4e7b-9f21-6c0d5a8b7e42, though each one is unique.

Limits and accuracy

Version 4 UUIDs are random, so they are not sorted by time and do not carry any information about their creator. Collisions are extremely unlikely but not impossible in theory.

Frequently asked questions

What is a UUID used for?

UUIDs give records and objects an identifier that is unlikely to clash with another, without needing a central counter.

Are these UUIDs stored?

No. They are generated in your browser and not saved on our servers.
